Tuesday 2nd December: This #GivingTuesday BBD Perfect Storm has created the #XmashTag, an extension of its traditional Christmas card that will help spread some festive cheer and do some good for charity at the same time.

A cheeky nod at the overuse of hashtags, the agency is hoping to flood Twitter with gratuitous random festive hashtags in the lead up to Christmas.

The agency has created Xmashtag.com, an online generator that will produce 10,000 unique hashtags made up of four festive words. There will be ridiculous hashtags from #FrostySleighDiscoGiblets to #AdventPorkElfCrackers generated for people to tweet and share.

For every unique tweet used from the generator BBD Perfect Storm will donate 10p to SCT, a local charity that provides practical help and support to those who have been homeless and suffering from addiction, poverty or social isolation.

Seb Hill, Executive Creative Director at BBD Perfect Storm, said: “Our industry – and indeed the world – is obsessed with ridiculous hashtags. We hope people see the ironic cliché in this campaign and embrace the XmashTag to spread some #ChristmasJoy, whilst doing some good at the same time.”

The agency is launching the work on #GivingTuesday, a global online movement that was created as an antidote Black Friday and Cyber Monday – which mark the start of the festive shopping season – to allow charities, businesses and people to donate time or money to a cause of their choice.
